"From the server room down there ... at this point they can only transfer over one gig; the new network will be a 10 gig network," an IT staffer said.
Bergstrom's quote to pull the fiber was presented; the county will purchase splice cases and handle the fiber termination separately (estimated termination and housing costs around $3,000). The board approved the fiber installation and directed IT to proceed with equipment programming and follow‑up quotes for termination.
Commissioners cited improved efficiency for casework and large file transfers in attorney and GIS work as key benefits of the upgrade. The motion to proceed carried by voice vote.
