Committee advances plan for middle‑school Strength & Speed elective and equipment pending NFL grant match

Longmire stressed safety and logistical improvements from replacing worn benches, bent bars and damaged dumbbells.
On funding, Longmire described outreach to local partners and an NFL grant match opportunity. He said local contributors had committed roughly $5,000–$7,000 each and that an NFL grant match described in the presentation as "20 to 30,000" was being pursued; he cautioned the exact grant amount was not finalized. If the match is secured, equipment could potentially be delivered by May 3, allowing planning time for the 2026–27 school year.
A committee member moved and the committee voted to forward the equipment and curriculum recommendation to the full school board for review. The motion advances the procurement and establishes the board‑level review needed to authorize any district expenditures.
Next steps: the district will continue pursuing grant matching, finalize vendor agreements if the board approves appropriation, and plan installation and staffing for the elective in coordination with middle‑school scheduling.
