Public works staff explained the work includes replacing roughly 2,606 linear feet of 8‑inch ductile iron main and 73 linear feet of 6‑inch main, using horizontal directional drilling and open‑cut methods on the stated streets. Staff noted contingencies may be needed if crews encounter unexpected conditions in the trenching process, including previously unknown lead water services that would require replacement.
Council members asked clarifying questions about contingencies and project oversight before approving the award on a roll‑call vote.
