Fernley commission approves agenda and minutes, requests briefing on BLM land transfer

The Fernley Planning Commission opened the meeting by noting that public input submitted after the 4 p.m. cut‑off will be included in the record but may not reach commissioners before action. The commission then approved the meeting agenda and the minutes from the previous meeting by unanimous voice votes recorded as 7–0.
During chair and commission items, the planning director reported no planning‑related city council actions on May 21 and said the southwest area plan hearing was continued to the June 18 meeting because notifications had to be reissued. A commissioner asked for a brief presentation at a future meeting explaining the process once Bureau of Land Management land is transferred to Fernley, including who may access or purchase it and how the city handles newly acquired parcels. Staff indicated Lydia has been working on that topic and will 'spearhead' the requested presentation.
The chair opened the public forum and no members of the public spoke in person or on Zoom.
