At the April 6 meeting, Dauphin County planning staff summarized current program activity and near‑term deliverables.
Andrew told the commission staff are finalizing NEVI (National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure) planning priorities to guide upcoming competitive applications. He said the county spent its sober‑ride voucher budget and is now conducting post‑activity reporting and analysis. The county has submitted a Safe Streets for All safety planning grant application worth about $500,000 to fund conceptual improvements identified in the county safety plan.
Andrew also described the TIP schedule: the county will place the draft TIP in public comment from May 1 to June 1, with formal adoption targeted for June. Staff noted ongoing coordination with PENNDOT permitting to reconcile HOP (Highway Occupancy Permit) processes and land development review pain points.
On regionwide planning, staff said outreach for a regional growth management plan remains active (public surveys and stakeholder meetings) and that a model data center ordinance will be released in the next newsletter; staff maintain a planning toolkit fact sheet on data center impacts and will circulate links to commissioners.
Why it matters: These planning activities shape project eligibility for funding, identify safety improvements for prioritization, guide transportation programming, and provide municipalities model regulations for emerging land uses such as data centers.
