After presentations from event organizers and a brief tally by staff, the clerk read the award amounts: Friendly Fourth of July $14,375; Sacred Visions Pow‑Wow $8,125; Nevada Veterans Coalition (Wreaths Across America) $9,250; Fly Aces Art & Culture $8,500; Fernley Junior Rodeo Association $9,625; Fernley Youth Softball $22,250; Fernley Community Foundation (Ferntock) $4,625; The Beacon $3,875; Main Street Fernley $6,250; and the Fernley Chamber of Commerce $5,250, for a total of $92,125—the largest biannual disbursement the board said it has awarded.
Presenters had requested a range of amounts. For example, the Friendly Fourth of July committee said the full event costs about $62,000 and had raised roughly $8,000 in donations to date; the committee had asked for additional fireworks funding earlier in the council discussion. Trisha Connor of Sacred Visions described the pow‑wow as a culturally important, multi‑day gathering with an estimated $34,000 operating budget and asked for $9,226. Rich Krombie of the Nevada Veterans Coalition said the local Wreaths Across America effort requires substantial logistical support and asked for $9,500 primarily to cover advertising.
Youth softball presenters provided detailed economic impact figures, reporting 2,189 hotel room bookings in 2025 tied to tournaments and estimating substantial local spending from visiting teams and families; the program received the largest single award, $22,250. The Beacon asked for $15,000 toward a $36,000 'Splash the Stigma' event but was awarded $3,875.
Board and staff reminders included a reimbursement deadline of July 30 for the last grant cycle and a staff request to review FCTA grant guidelines and bylaws (last updated Feb. 2021); staff proposed the board submit suggested changes by September 2025 for council consideration in October ahead of the December 8, 2025 round‑two awards.
The FCTA meeting adjourned after announcing awards and noting the next FCTA meeting is scheduled for Dec. 8, 2025 at 6:00 p.m.
