Fernley council approves short extension for CRRC project manager; public commenter praises contractor

The Fernley City Council voted 5-0 to approve Amendment No. 2 to the contract for project management of the Community Response and Resource Center (CRRC) with Coming Group, allowing the group to continue as the city's project representative through August and prorated into September if required.
Deputy City Manager Lydia Altech explained that the revised request removes a previously proposed $5,000 cost-estimate service for an early learning center and that the Coming Group would continue project-management and city-representative duties to finish project closeout and manage the added Boys & Girls Club playground work. "If we turn out we do not need them throughout September or we only need them for one week in September, the amount will be prorated," Altech said.
Council discussed project-closeout tasks and asked when the city would know the contract work was complete; Altech said she expected a final invoice within two weeks and a certificate of occupancy shortly after.
During public comment, Cody Wagner, who said he has followed the project since 2021, praised Mike Allen and Coming Group for managing the work and said he had "zero issue with continuing that contract to close out the project." The council asked staff to update members at the next meeting on the contract status.
The motion to approve the amendment passed unanimously.
