Councilmember requests update and cost report on city'initiated investigation

Councilman Mendoza asked the city attorney for an update on the investigation the city initiated involving him and asked the finance department to provide figures showing the costs so far.
Aaron Mortonson, the city attorney, said he is not handling the investigation and that it is being handled by outside counsel appointed by the pool. "I can certainly forward that to them and have them reach out to you, but I'm unaware of the status of the investigation," Mortonson said.
Robert Carson, city treasurer, said he did not have cost figures at the meeting but offered to assemble the information for the council's next meeting. "I don't have those figures in front of me. I can put them together and give a report at the next meeting as well," Carson said. Councilman Mendoza reiterated a request to include staff time spent on the investigations so the public can see total costs.
