The Fernley Senior Citizens Advisory Committee handled several administrative items including approving business-card reorders, restarting work on the senior resource guide, and addressing a committee vacancy.
Business cards: Lisa Callahan moved to purchase new business cards for all members with a blank line to write individual names; Jordan Hicks seconded and the motion carried. Members favored the blank-line design as a cost-effective and flexible option while membership remains fluid.
Senior resource guide: The committee noted the FSCAC guide is out of print. Casey Casten said a digital version exists on the city website and volunteers (Jack Leavoy and city staff) will coordinate to update content and find a printing vendor, with edits and vendor choices to be presented at a future meeting.
Member vacancy and newsletter: The committee discussed Denise Mormon's resignation and asked the clerk's office to publicize the open seat rather than automatically appointing a prior applicant. Members agreed that the newsletter should be produced by an active committee member and that outside contributors may submit material for consideration, but that a committee member should manage the newsletter content.
Next steps: The clerk's office will advertise the vacancy; staff and volunteers will locate the resource guide files for revision and present print options at a subsequent meeting; business cards will be ordered per the approved motion.
