Council approves agenda, consent items and committee appointments; tables July 1 meeting
Summary
Fernley council approved the meeting agenda and the consent agenda (with one item pulled), confirmed committee appointments and alternates, and voted to table consideration of cancelling the July 1 meeting; several motions carried unanimously (5-0).
The council completed routine procedural business including approval of the agenda, consent items and mayoral appointments to boards and committees.
A motion to approve the agenda carried 5-0. Council then approved the consent agenda with item 2.8 removed (motion 5-0). During the consent discussion council members addressed multiple committee memberships and alternates for bodies such as the Western Nevada Development District, the Nevada League of Cities Legislative Committee, the Lyon County Room Tax Board and the STEM committee. The mayor asked staff to send council updated lists after the meeting.
Council also considered an item to cancel the July 1, 2026 council meeting because of a city anniversary; Councilman Hannon moved to table that item to the next meeting and the motion carried 5-0.
What’s next: Staff will distribute the finalized committee rosters and continue coordination on regional board representation; the council will revisit the July 1 meeting calendar item at the next meeting.
