The Fernley Senior Citizens Advisory Committee reported there are 15 Angel applications this year and discussed logistics for next Friday's gift distribution (noon to 5 p.m.). Members agreed to stagger volunteer coverage in two-hour shifts to pack and staff the distribution table.
Lisa Callahan said the city tree gifts had been largely taken and that five angels remained on the tree at Big R. Jackie Lavoy reported Polaris will donate 11 stuffed stockings to pair with Angel gifts but acknowledged Polaris's pledge leaves a shortfall if the committee's total remains at 15. Albert Torres offered to help fill any shortfall if Polaris cannot supply additional stockings.
The committee agreed on a Wednesday cutoff to assess remaining unfulfilled angels and determine whether volunteers should purchase additional stockings or other supplemental items. Committee members also discussed expanding Angel Tree pickup locations in future years (library, restaurants, other collection points) to grow capacity.
Next steps: Lavoy will confirm with Molly at Polaris whether additional stockings can be provided; if not, committee members offered to fill the remaining items. Volunteers will stage distribution shifts beginning at noon on distribution day.
