The Fernley City Council heard the introduction and first reading of Bill 372, a petition from M4 Victory Power QB LLC to annex parcel 021-031-13, described in the staff report as roughly 107.87 acres east of Interstate 80 and northeast of Duffy Road near Fernley Sink Lake. No vote was taken at the meeting; staff said adjoining property owners have been notified and a public hearing will be scheduled later this month.
The presenter told the council, "I'm here tonight for introduction and first reading. So, no action will be taken this evening," and said staff would be available to answer basic questions in advance of the hearing. The council did not deliberate on the substance of the annexation at the first-reading stage.
A first reading is a procedural step that introduces an ordinance for later consideration; the public hearing will offer residents and adjoining property owners an opportunity to comment and for council members to request additional information before any final action.
