Tom Clark, representing the Gratiot County Sheriff’s Office, told the LEPC on March 10 that two corrections deputies recently graduated from the corrections academy and that a conditional offer has been made for a road patrol deputy; that hire would bring the Sheriff’s Office to full staff.
Clark also reported that the number of female inmates has reached maximum capacity and that the county has an agreement with Montcalm County to house the overflow female inmates. Clark added that the School Resource Officer (Deputy Sylvan Green) is serving Breckenridge, Ithaca, Ashley and Fulton schools.
The LEPC recorded these staffing and housing updates as information for the committee; no action items or funding allocations were recorded at the meeting.
