Fine-arts successes, facilities progress and proposed adult meal price increases highlighted at Carroll County board session

Mr. Ruby, presenting fine‑arts highlights, said the district hosted dozens of fine‑arts events and showed year‑over‑year gains: increased Allstate and GMEA selections, a statewide art exhibit with student work displayed at the Georgia State Capitol, music‑education scholarships, and higher participation at district showcases. He said the Quaver elementary music platform produced ‘‘11 hits per day’’ on average in Carroll County classrooms versus a Georgia average of 7, and the district has recorded thousands of total launches in elementary music classrooms.
Glenn Harding reported progress on two major construction projects: Mount Zion Middle School has completed interior block work, roofing deck and plumbing, with exterior brick and kitchen/cafeteria modifications planned for the summer; Temple Middle School’s interior walls and door frames are nearing completion and carline work will continue over summer.
Harding also summarized the school nutrition vendor bid package for 2026–27 and asked that the vendor awards be placed on the consent agenda; he recommended increasing adult breakfast from $2 to $2.75 and adult lunch from $4 to $4.75 to align reimbursement with costs, noting the change is intended so the district is not losing money on adult meals. The board agreed to place those items on the consent agenda.
