Wildwood Crest commissioners set two ordinances for second reading and approve multiple resolutions including $182,800 road resurfacing

The Borough of Wildwood Crest Board of Commissioners on a unanimous or recorded roll-call vote set two ordinances for second reading and adopted a series of resolutions covering road work, equipment purchases and administrative matters.

At the meeting the clerk read Ordinance 1437, which would amend Chapter 56A (rental properties) to revise definitions, lower the number of complaints required for license revocation or suspension, and create a new occupancy-limits section; the ordinance was passed on first reading and advertised for second and final reading and public hearing on Oct. 15, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. The clerk also read Ordinance 1438 to amend and restate Chapter 53 (Police Department); the board passed it on first reading and scheduled the same Oct. 15 hearing. The board also authorized purchases under cooperative purchasing for Public Works (one 2024 LP and two rear-dumping compactor boxes), approved a retroactive reduction of special-event fees for a Wildwood Motor Events monster-truck meet-and-greet, and authorized advertisement of bids for municipal building bathroom renovations and for the Toledo Avenue reconstruction (FY2024 NJDCA municipal aid).

Other adopted items included a resolution urging an investigation into unexpected increases in Atlantic City Electric bills and requesting a moratorium on shutoffs and rate increases until that review is completed; a $600 refund to Crest Community Church for Public Works support fees; amendments to the junior firefighter auxiliary program rules for Wildwood Crest Volunteer Fire Company No. 1; acceptance of the 2024 best-practices inventory; authorization to auction abandoned vehicles online; and adoption of a sustainable-jerseys/sustainable-land-use pledge. A motion to pay bills was also approved by roll call.
