Berkeley Heights Board recognizes 16 district retirees, citing up to 35 years of service

Acting Superintendent Rob Nixon read the names and years of hire for retirees, noting service years that ranged from roughly 10 years to as many as 35 years. Among those named were Deborah Rush (school nurse, hired September 1989, about 35 years of service) and Lauren Ryan (teacher of health and physical education, hired September 1985, about 35 years). The list also included classroom teachers, a director of special services, custodians and paraprofessionals.
The Board thanked the retirees for decades of service and invited attendees to come forward to receive plaques. The recognition emphasized gratitude for long-term contributions to students, families and the district’s educational mission.
