Vernon reports small gains in ELA and AP participation as academics become a focus

Superintendent Russell Roger said academic support will be a main focus in 2024–25, with teaching interventionists and instructional coaches returning this year to support teachers. He reported that the district’s 11th-grade math scores rose roughly 1% while ELA results improved about 15% compared with the prior year. Roger added that about 20 more students took AP exams last year and the number of students earning scores of 4s and 5s increased compared with previous years.
District leaders said they will present more detailed AP and assessment results to the Board of Education in upcoming meetings and described the interventions as part of a push to increase college and career readiness.
