Superintendent Russell Roger said the Vernon Township School District will begin full-day classes for students on Sept. 5, with teachers reporting Sept. 3–4. Bus schedules will be released Friday, Aug. 16, and families will receive a detailed email on Aug. 20 at 3 p.m. Class schedules will be posted in Genesis and families were asked to complete online forms carefully because that information helps determine school and state funding.
Roger also said many fall extracurriculars had already started: marching band camp was held over the summer and tennis, cheer and football practices were underway, with remaining sports launching as school begins. "Our marching band last year was the first time ever that they placed first in New Jersey state competition," said Mrs. Young, principal of Vernon Township High School, noting strong team results across several sports the prior year.
The district asked families to watch for the Aug. 16 bus-posting and the Aug. 20 schedule email, and said principals will present these operational details to the Board of Education at the next meeting.
