The Davis Senior Citizens Commission voted to form a subcommittee to survey neighboring senior commissions and report back with ideas for addressing local housing, transportation and service gaps.
Commissioner Thomas Rost moved to set up a small subcommittee to visit surrounding communities and report on approaches other commissions are using; a second was recorded and the motion passed by voice vote. Commissioners Rost and Carol Gavin volunteered to serve on the subcommittee.
Commissioners also approved an off‑site meeting at the Mary Stevens Branch Library for September 2026. The commission asked staff to invite the executive director of Yolo County Housing back to answer written questions at a future meeting about funding categories, wait lists and services for unhoused seniors and people with disabilities who are not regional center clients. Commissioners requested a presentation from the nonprofit that runs Paul's Place to explain eligibility and operations for that transitional housing model.
The subcommittee is to report findings to the full commission for potential inclusion in the commission's 2027 work plan.
