Isanti — The Isanti City Council on Feb. 18 approved in-store signage at Sani Liquor that will allow vendors to post materials (including QR codes) to help customers contact their legislators about a pending hemp-derived THC ban.
A staff representative identified as Keith told the council the intent is to place signage near the THC products and to remove it if the ban is implemented or the policy context changes. He said the city benefits from THC sales: "THC sales in 2025 total $259,000," and that revenue contributes to lower taxes for taxpayers through liquor-store profits retained by the city.
Council Member Heman moved to approve the resolution; Council Member Lundine seconded. The council approved the measure on a 4–0 voice vote. Council placed a logistical caveat that signs be near THC product displays and that vendors handle sign installations according to store management rules.
Staff said the signage will include an automated QR workflow that directs constituent input to representatives based on address. No timeline for removal was set beyond the condition that signs would be removed if the ban were enacted or no longer applicable.
