Representatives of the Peoria Area Convention and Visitors Bureau presented a partnership overview to the Committee of the Whole on April 13, detailing promotional services and audience metrics offered to the City of Washington.
The presenter said PACVB maintains a Washington page and calendar on discoverpeoria.com, lists 88 local businesses and reported 9,400 views and more than 2,000 clicks for Washington listings in the past three quarters. He said PACVB produced more than 488,000 Google impressions for listed businesses and has published 19 blogs referencing Washington with 25,898 combined views.
The PACVB representative also described distribution channels: newsletters to 15,000+ leisure travelers, 76 social posts and 49 social stories featuring Washington entities in the past three quarters, bi‑weekly TV segments with WEEK 25 News, and radio segments with local stations. He said PACVB generated 27 leads requesting 43,000 room nights for Washington in the last three quarters, which staff framed as evidence of event and convention demand.
The presenter said partnership benefits can include a voting seat on the PACVB board and custom content (blogs, reels, discovery videos) and that PACVB works with the Illinois Office of Tourism and the City of Peoria to expand reach. Council members asked for any clarifications and signaled interest in formalizing the partnership arrangement; staff said they would provide additional information as requested.
Next steps: staff will provide follow‑up materials on the proposed agreement and slides that were shared during the presentation. No formal agreement was adopted at the April 13 meeting.
