NHUSD holds public hearing on draft LCAP; board to consider adoption June 18

Miss Stevens presented the New Haven Unified School District's draft Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) for 2024'25 during the board meeting on Tuesday, framing the document as the district's roadmap aligned to board-adopted goals and required elements of state law. "I'm here to present the local control accountability plan," Stevens told trustees and members of the public, explaining that the draft incorporates county feedback from an Alameda County review matrix.

The presentation highlighted that the district adopted five board goals for the year and has added a sixth goal specifically to support Conley Carabello after some schools qualified for Equity Multiplier funds. Stevens said the draft includes an "action appendix" required for each vulnerable student group that is not meeting target outcomes, and that the document contains fiscal projections and action-plan tables. She asked trustees and community members to submit feedback by citing page numbers or specific sections and to send comments either to the superintendent or to her directly.

Stevens said the district will ask the board to adopt the LCAP at the June 18 meeting; if adopted, the district will submit the final plan to the county. The public hearing portion of the meeting closed with no public speakers on the LCAP.

Why it matters: the LCAP lays out district priorities and directed spending tied to state funding streams (LCFF) and sets measurable goals for student groups identified as needing additional support.
