Winnebago County forms safety committee to coordinate drills and insurance reviews

Supervisors agreed to form a county safety committee that will meet quarterly and include at least one representative from each county department, a board member and the county's insurance contact. The committee's purpose is to plan and schedule drills (tornado, fire, active shooter), identify training needs and recommend low-cost infrastructure upgrades such as access control and cameras.
Derby moved that the board create the committee with department representatives; Smith seconded and the motion passed by voice vote. Supervisors asked staff—Carla and Andy were named as contacts—to coordinate the inaugural meeting and to compare Winnebago practices with neighboring counties.
