Supervisors approve FY27 secondary road budget, 5-year program and equipment purchases

The board approved an engineer's report to install an 18-inch culvert and intake near GD18 Lot 16 (Nelson and Anders properties) to restore a natural north-to-south drainage flow; the engineer recommended an 18-inch pipe based on local conditions despite a 24-inch hydraulic-design option. Supervisors directed the county engineer to proceed with the intake and culvert work.
Supervisors also authorized an equipment purchase for the secondary road department: a used 2022 908 wheel loader with an estimated sticker price of $83,250 and an anticipated net cost near $53,250 depending on a trade-in value for a 2005 Cat 420D backhoe. The board was informed that final trade-in and dealer negotiations could change the net price; the motion approved purchase authority rather than a fixed final invoice.
The board approved a routine utility permit allowing Heartland Power to bury approximately two miles of power lines in Grant Township and approved routine county claims and auditor transfers before adjourning.
