South Brunswick honors National Merit semifinalists and student achievements

Principal Peter Varela opened a recognition ceremony at the board meeting celebrating student achievement. "Tonight we are gathered to celebrate excellence," Varela said as students and board members honored National Merit semifinalists, commended students and gave personal remarks to teachers and mentors.
Superintendent Dr. Braan also highlighted district accomplishments, including the announcement that a student team won the NASA Techrise Student Challenge and that the district would present a revised calendar for board approval on March 5. Varela read the names of honorees and introduced student speakers who presented notes and gift books to staff.
The board presented certificates of appreciation from Board President Laura Hernandez and thanked students, families and educators for their work. The recognition program included student testimonials about the impact of teachers and staff across multiple departments and grade levels.
The honors program concluded and the board took a short break before returning to business.
