Jones County commissioners approve contracts, transfers and routine business in unanimous votes

During the April 13 meeting the Jones County Commissioners Court handled a number of routine administrative and financial matters by unanimous vote.
Procurement and contracts: the court approved a hauling and materials bid from K Kays Trucking Inc., and approved a contract with Cintas for dust mops. Commissioners also ratified an engagement letter with Crowe and Constangy, Brooks, Smith and Prophete LLP related to cybersecurity services.
Personnel and public-safety administration: the court exempted the vacation-hours cap for dispatch temporarily because of staffing shortages, and lifted the county burn ban after a motion by Commissioner Joel Spraberry.
Finance and budgets: the court approved a transfer of $125,000 from Precinct 1 disaster funds to the general fund, approved the treasurer’s report as presented, amended the budget and approved line-item transfers, and approved payment of bills as presented by the auditor.
Each approval was made by motion, seconded and recorded as unanimous where the agenda reports the vote. County staff will follow up on contract execution, budget posting, and required documentation for the disaster-fund transfer and procurement items.
