The Piscataway Township Board of Education opened its meeting with recognition of the district’s student-athletes, highlighting recent state- and county-level results. Coach Smith told the board that junior Jean Rodriguez posted a 25-win season, pinned every opponent in the first-ever girls GMC tournament and became the district’s first girls region champion, qualifying for the state tournament for a second straight year. He also praised junior Sean Love for winning a district title and placing fifth in New Jersey at 157 pounds.
Coach Pacino and others recognized members of the winter track program, naming the state-champion 4x200 quartet — Jamari Atinson, Mile Stony, Devonte Death and Noah Grant — and noting the relay set a new Middlesex County record of 1 minute, 27 seconds. The board singled out Noah Grant’s 10.3-second 100-meter time and other relay marks: a 4x400 sectional championship and a 4x100 county-record split reported at about 41 seconds.
Why it matters: Board recognition highlights athletic programs that engage students and draw community attention, and it gives families and coaches an official forum to honor season milestones. The awards reinforce district support for extracurriculars that the administration said help student development.
Board members applauded the athletes and coaches; no formal action was taken beyond the recognition. The evening’s ceremony also included certificates and a short video slideshow featuring Eisenhower Elementary reading buddies and other student programs.
