At a glance: Upson County approves two beer-and-wine license transfers and refers truck-parking ordinance to planning staff

At the April 14 Upson County commission meeting, members approved two transfers of existing beer-and-wine package sales licenses and took several routine and procedural actions.

Licenses: On staff recommendation, the board approved a transfer of a beer-and-wine package sales license for a business listed at 1403 Hand as Mill Road and approved a separate transfer for 3108 Sunnyside. There were no public objections during the hearings and both motions carried on roll-call votes.

Consent agenda and appointment: The commission approved the consent agenda, which included the March 24 regular meeting minutes and acceptance of a local-match project at the county airport for aprons, a parallel taxiway and additional box hangars. The board also appointed Miss Hughes to the Board of Elections.

Zoning referrals and next steps: Commissioners discussed a draft truck-parking ordinance and a text amendment to R2 (residential) zoning. Because the draft would alter the zoning ordinance where it references residential uses, the board voted to send both items to the new planning director and the planning commission so staff can follow the required public-notice process and hold formal hearings. The planning director will return a recommendation after the planning commission review.
