Kuna trustees approve lowest responsive bids for KHS gym foyer/vestibule in summer construction package
Summary
The board accepted the lowest responsive bids for the Kuna High School gym foyer/vestibule project so work can proceed this summer alongside HVAC and roof work; construction bid totals were lower than an earlier $700,000 estimate, with the responsive package near $550,000 for listed scopes.

The Kuna Joint School District Board of Trustees approved awarding the lowest responsive bids for the Kuna High School gym foyer/vestibule project as part of a planned summer construction package.
Facilities staff recommended moving the vestibule construction into summer work so the project can be completed while the high school is not in session and alongside HVAC and roof projects. Trustees were shown bid packages and staff recommended awarding the lowest responsive bidders for the listed scopes (items 1'12 on the presented slide). The board approved the recommendation by motion and second.
Staff said the construction estimate had previously been presented near $700,000; the lowest responsive bid package for the listed scopes was roughly $550,000, leaving capacity in the capital plan for additional year-two projects. Trustees asked about design, access control, handicap access and materials; staff said the vestibules will be glass and masonry to match the existing building and will include access-control hardware.
Next steps: staff will finalize contracts with the successful bidders, coordinate the work schedule with summer activities, and return procurement documents as required for contract approval and payment coding.
