District expands math pilot and purchases materials to bridge transition to Into Math 2.0

Dr. Olson briefed the board on elementary math materials, saying Math Expressions has been the district's primary elementary math program for about a decade and that five schools are piloting Into Math, with four more joining the pilot next year for a total of nine pilot schools.
"We are going to be using that with 32 schools so that we are ready to fully implement our Into Math 2.0 for 27 28 school year," Dr. Olson said, describing a purchase of Math Expressions instructional materials to support classrooms during the transition. The district intends to extend pilots through the next full school year and evaluate outcomes using multiple measures, including MAP, AQuESTT and elementary report card data.
Board members asked about supports for families to reinforce math at home; Dr. Olson said independent-practice and homework materials were a key consideration in selecting pilot materials and that the district aims to provide parents with tools to support student learning.
Staff said summer school will be used for enhancement and intervention and that a phased rollout is planned so pilot teachers can pilot the full cycle before wider implementation.
