Daniella Rump, representing East Madison Little League (District 12), told the committee the league has been on the east side since 1958 and the current park opened in 1999 after improvements were funded and built by the volunteer league. Rump said the league has 272 youth registered this season and provided demographic and income distributions for registrants; she emphasized the league’s low-barrier policy, saying free registrations are available to families that qualify, commonly using free or reduced lunch status as a proxy.
Alderman Verveer publicly noted that a parks division memo was available on Legistar addressing questions about the transaction and thanked staff for the staff report. President Bidar called the motion to approve; the committee recorded a unanimous vote in favor.
