The Madison Plan Commission on April 13 approved a conditional use permitting an outdoor pool to serve a proposed six‑story, 134‑unit building at 7601 Ganzer Way.
Planner Ernest told the commission staff recommended limiting pool hours to 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., replacing a proposed ornamental fence along the south edge of the pool with a six‑foot solid fence for screening, and prohibiting amplified sound within the pool area unless the conditional use is later amended to permit it.
No members of the public registered to speak in opposition; two registrants representing the applicant team were available to answer technical questions. Commissioners discussed proximity to existing residences and asked staff about the typical conditions applied to pools and multifamily amenities.
After deliberation, the commission found that conditional‑use standards were met subject to the recommended conditions (solid fencing, hours, and pool‑operation plan) and approved the request by unanimous consent. The staff conditions are intended to limit noise and intrusion to nearby residents and to require operational controls that staff can monitor if complaints arise.
The approval applies only to the conditional use for the pool; the larger multifamily project remains subject to separate review for other permits and standards.
