Superintendent Noel told the Canfield Local Schools Board on March 11 that the district’s arts and athletics programs have had a string of successes — from a live contact with the International Space Station to band and speech honors and multiple state qualifiers in athletics.
Noel highlighted community and staff contributions, singled out teachers and coaches by name in praise, and described the Canfield Education Innovation Fund he started in 2021. He said the fund provides grants to staff for creative classroom ideas and explained the district will run an online auction to raise those resources; the auction dates were presented during the meeting beginning Wednesday, April 15 (end date presented in the transcript as "the 20 third"). Noel encouraged community donations of experiences or certificates to support the fund.
Noel also recognized recent awardees including a Mahoning Valley Educator of the Year honoree and district students who advanced to state-level competitions in math, speech and athletics. He invited the community to upcoming events (a middle-school drama production and an art show for students with special abilities) and closed by noting a fuller academic state-of-the-schools address will follow in May.
