DAVID CITY, Neb. — The Butler County Board of Equalization approved three tax-roll corrections at its May 4 meeting that add personal property taxes for Holloway Electric LLC after the company filed returns late, the board’s minutes show.
County Assessor Donoghue presented three corrections identifying added taxes of $637.46 for 2023 (file #3290), $1,886.36 for 2024 (file #3291) and $1,334.58 for 2025 (file #3292), each listed with the stated reason “late filing of [the] personal property return.”
Board member Brad Vandenberg moved to approve the corrections, and board member Scott Griess seconded. A roll call vote recorded ayes from Vandenberg, Griess, Scot Bauer, Tony Krafka and Chairman Scott Steager; no members voted nay. Members Bob Coufal and Jan Sypal were recorded as absent. The motion carried and the corrections were approved.
After approving the corrections, the board voted to exit the Board of Equalization at 9:02 a.m. That motion, moved by Griess and seconded by Bauer, passed on the same unanimous roll call of members present.
The meeting opened with Chairman Scott Steager announcing that a copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room and included the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes from the previous meeting were declared approved as presented. County Clerk Lori Aschoff signed the minutes as county clerk and Chairman Steager signed as chairman.
No additional discussion of the corrected assessments or appeals is recorded in the minutes. The minutes list the meeting notice and agenda distribution and state the proceedings were open to the public.
