Butler County board hires senior center director, approves contracts and routine business

DAVID CITY, Neb. — The Butler County Board of Supervisors on May 4 hired a new senior center director, approved contracts for victim-services and routine county business, and adopted two tax-sale foreclosure resolutions. The board conducted the actions during a 9 a.m. meeting at the Butler County Courthouse.
The board voted unanimously to hire Jillian Boss as Senior Center Director after a committee that included HR Director Aida Hickman and supervisors interviewed candidates. Boss described her nonprofit experience and said she looks forward to working with staff and volunteers to expand services to residents living outside David City. The motion to hire was made by Supervisor Scot Bauer and seconded by Supervisor Brad Vandenberg.
County Attorney Julie Reiter briefed the board on a request to reimburse Saunders County for wages and benefits for a shared District Court bailiff; the counties share costs under an interlocal agreement and allocations are prorated by caseload. The board approved payments totaling $21,296.74 — $20,151.62 for wages and $1,145.12 for benefits — on a motion by Vandenberg and second by Scott Griess.
The board also approved a one-year contract with the BraveBe Child Advocacy Center, citing the state statute that requires trained interviewers for juvenile victims or witnesses. The board approved the contract and an FY2026–27 annual service contribution of $1,980.
Other routine actions included accepting monthly fee reports from the County Clerk, Clerk of the District Court and Sheriff, and approving early payroll for separated employees. The board reappointed Jason Lavicky to the Butler County Health Board for a four-year term and authorized a 911 coordinator to sell a surplus office chair in compliance with the County Purchasing Act (§§ 23-3101 to 23-3115).
