Sherwood councilmembers on Jan. 21 received updates showing steady community fundraising for youth fields and discussed park-improvement estimates and installation plans.
Administrator Sherri Ramey told the council that donations for Project Home Field are now close to $57,000. Ramey also reported Memorial Park pathway estimates: a stamped and colored brick pathway priced at $22,815 with a stamped border estimated at $5,475. The Sherwood Foundation said it will request quotes for additional name bricks and then offer a community opportunity to purchase and install bricks during the project.
During the public-comment portion of the meeting, residents Luke and Levi Kuhn presented plans for new dugouts at Moat's Park. Council members reacted positively; when asked about night-game visibility, Levi said electricians had been consulted and that installing power and fans was feasible, adding that "lights shouldn't be an issue." Council discussion included the possibility of lights inside the dugouts or lighting on the outside and a suggestion to consider clear roof panels as an alternative to interior lighting.
Other related items in the meeting record include confirmation that rebar for the Little Reservation Station border reset has been obtained and will be installed when weather permits. The minutes also note the village is coordinating with AEP on streetlight replacement and the possible addition of outlets to poles that could help power holiday decorations or field-area lighting.
The Sherwood Foundation and village staff will continue to seek contractor quotes and community contributions; the minutes do not list firm construction start dates.
