Gordon County approves two rezoning requests for Ocelot Trail and Newtown Road

RZ-2026-007 sought to rezone parcel 049-103 at 227 Newtown Road from Low Density Residential (R-1) to General Commercial (C-G). The Planning Commission also recommended approval, and Commissioner Kurt Sutherland moved the board to approve, seconded by Vice-Chair Cunningham. The board voted 5-0 to grant the rezoning.
Both actions move the parcels into their new zoning categories; the record shows Planning Department reviews and the Planning Commission’s unanimous recommendations preceded each board vote. No public opposition was recorded for these two items in the meeting transcript.
