Sherwood reports $82,349 raised for Moat’s Park ball fields; memorial-brick fundraiser planned

Administrator/Fiscal Officer Sherri Ramey said donors have given $82,349 toward improvements at Moat’s Park ball fields: $10,000 toward land purchase; $27,128.64 for three dugouts ($6,782.16 each); $34,871.50 for fencing (a $17,435.75 deposit paid); and eight 12-foot metal benches. After those allocations, $8,348.86 remained for other improvements. Ramey said the village has submitted a capital grant application to supplement the project budget.
On Memorial Park, Dave Brown presented a proposal to sell up to 50 new pathway bricks that will match existing bricks in style. Messages will be limited to three lines and may include a heart or cross but not logos or special designs; Brown will provide a quote and the ordering window will be open for two months, with proceeds directed to park improvements.
Staff also announced the Great American Cleanup will take place Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to noon and that Defiance County Environmental Services can supply gloves, litter grabbers and bags. The minutes include additional community calendar items including a food pantry on March 27, an Easter egg hunt on March 28 at Moat’s Park, and two summer events 'WingThing' and 'SchwingThing.'
