Benton County hires executive search firm to recruit County Engineer

Susan Block, Benton County human resources director, told the board on Feb. 17 that the County Engineer position has attracted only three applicants since December and that no new applications were received after the position was reposted. After researching four Minnesota‑based executive search firms, Block recommended LocalGov Staffing Solutions, which specializes in government recruitment and screening.
Commissioner Jared Gapinski moved to retain LocalGov Staffing Solutions for the recruitment; Commissioner Pam Benoit seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Under the arrangement, the firm will conduct recruitment, screening and background checks, and the county will conduct final interviews for candidates recommended by the firm.
Block said the search firm approach is intended to broaden the candidate pool and help the county identify qualified applicants for a technical, hard‑to‑fill role. The board did not provide additional conditions at the time of the vote.
