At its April meeting the Blue Springs R‑IV board recognized district staff and students for achievements during the school year.
Erica Aishide, a 23‑year science teacher at Britney Hill Middle School and robotics coach, was introduced as April employee of the month. Colleagues described Aishide’s dedication to students and colleagues: Cindy Clark called her “supportive” and “insightful,” and Principal Dr. Jill Gunlock said she is “the kindest, most giving individual” who often arrives early and stays late to help students. Aishide accepted the recognition and thanked the board, her colleagues and family.
The board also named Carissa Lewis, an eighth grader at Paul Kinder Middle School, as April student of the month. Lewis maintains a 4.0 GPA, serves as president of the National Junior Honor Society and participates in band, jazz band, speech and debate, theater and school media. Teachers praised her leadership and commitment to service; Lewis told the board the district’s programs shaped her confidence and voice.
Board members and parents in the audience offered congratulations to both honorees and noted district programs — including choir performances and robotics competitions — that showcase student talent.
