"This initiative is designed to lift the tide for every recreational space in our county," the judge read from Representative Truit’s letter, which the court received as supporting material.
Court members discussed necessary next steps, including surveying and deed transfer. Staff and members noted that, once the land is under county ownership, state legislators — the judge referred to coordination with Representative Truit and the county’s state senator — would assist in seeking capital funding. The court indicated voice assent to accept the parcel and directed staff to complete surveying and title-transfer steps so the county could pursue state grants and other funding sources.
The fiscal court also discussed governance for future park improvements.
