New superintendent highlights school visits, arts and holiday schedule in first board report

The East Brunswick Board of Education heard an introductory report from the district’s new superintendent at its Dec. 4 special meeting, where the superintendent described campus visits, praised recent student performances, and listed upcoming events and schedule changes.
The superintendent opened the report by saying, “So, it’s day four for me,” and described visits to Hammershold, Chidik, Bound Monroe, Frost, Irwin and Church Hill elementary schools, noting that the visits “just really affirms one of the things I really loved about East Brunswick.” She also spoke about attending the high school’s fall drama production of Radium Girls, directed by Jeffrey Davis, and about a rehearsal visit from Flora Davis, who spoke with students about women’s history.
Jane, the student representative, summarized recent student activities that followed the superintendent’s remarks: a successful Anderson Bowl that raised $1,300, a closed fall play, upcoming orchestra and band concerts, and student-run events such as Bollywood Night and a holiday market. The superintendent and board members also thanked PTAs and volunteers who support school programs.
The superintendent announced calendar details: Dec. 23 will be a single session day with lunch for K–6 students; schools will be closed for winter recess beginning Dec. 24 and will reopen Jan. 5, 2026. District offices will be open Friday, Jan. 2, 2026. Board members commended recent school events and student achievements, including recognition of Allison Lee for receiving a Regeneron Science Talent Search award.
Multiple board members also used the public meeting to thank outgoing board president Heather Goss for her years of service and to acknowledge administrative staff. The board then moved on to routine agenda business.
