SBA outlines disaster-loan help for residents, sets application deadline in early June

YELM — A representative of the Small Business Administration briefed Yelm's City Council on April 14 about disaster-assistance loans available to residents, small businesses and nonprofits affected by the December 2025 winter storms.
Hannah Morhead identified herself as representing the SBA and described the agency's low-interest loan program for disaster survivors. She said loans are available to homeowners, renters, small businesses and nonprofit organizations to repair or replace disaster-damaged property. Morhead described program features such as deferred payments and a 12-month interest-free period in some cases and said the SBA operates mobile recovery centers to serve rural applicants.
She asked council members and staff to publicize the program and invited the city to request outreach events; she also said the physical-damage application deadline is in early June (she referred to June 7).
What happens next: SBA will continue outreach; the council was asked to share application information on city channels and consider inviting SBA staff to local events or presentations to residents and businesses.
