Clintondale board names Kevin Knoblock interim superintendent, approves separation agreement and closed-session actions

The Clintondale Board of Education voted 6–0 to appoint an internal interim superintendent and the president indicated the board intends to offer the role to Kevin Knoblock. The board discussed two interim options — an internal appointment (lower short-term cost) and hiring an external interim through July 1 — and voted against pursuing an external candidate.
The board also approved a superintendent separation agreement by a 6–0 roll call. Multiple motions followed to enter closed sessions under sections 81C and 81B of the Michigan Open Meetings Act to discuss ongoing negotiations with building administrators and central-office administrators and to consider student reinstatement.
Trustee Ms. Wilson read a statement on the record saying she would refuse to enter closed session citing safety concerns related to past "hostile, aggressive, and intimidating behavior by a board member" and later abstained on one vote because she said she had not had full access to closed-session discussions. After returning from closed session, the board voted to instruct the superintendent and board president to proceed as discussed regarding negotiations; the motion carried with one abstention. The board also voted to reinstate student #1750017778 with conditions including a behavior contract, a check-in/out system and attendance and academic requirements; that motion carried with one abstention.
What’s next: Kevin Knoblock is to begin interim duties; the board and superintendent will continue negotiations per closed-session direction and will monitor compliance with the reinstatement conditions.
