Council schedules Feb. open house, March retreat; hears snow and building complaints

Council also tentatively scheduled its annual strategic planning retreat for Monday, March 23, 2026, at Lynden Hill (daylong, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.), with staff asked to circulate a draft agenda and consider evening alternatives for members who cannot attend daytime sessions.
During constituent messages council members relayed a series of resident concerns: one complaint described large snow piles placed by Little Falls Machine Shop on a neighboring vacant lot that have led to runoff and pump problems for adjacent properties; staff said they would follow up. Another constituent reported suspected asbestos exposure during interior renovation work at the former Victor’s building (Purple Carrick renovation); council asked staff to check building ownership and regulatory steps and to respond to the resident.
Council members also noted positive feedback from residents praising recent snow-plowing performance and requested staff add additional council contact numbers to the city website so constituents have more ways to reach representatives.
