Oklahoma County commissioners approve targeted revisions to employee handbook, refer operational items for further review

Oklahoma County commissioners on April 13 approved a package of targeted revisions to the draft Oklahoma County Employee Handbook while deferring several operational and legal questions for additional work and counsel review.

The board voted by voice to move the Americans with Disabilities Act language and the Family and Medical Leave Act language into the employment-policies section, adopt clarifications to full-time and annual-leave definitions, remove an outdated sick-leave accrual chart, add a short injury- and vehicle-accident reporting requirement, relocate all forms to the end of the handbook, standardize formatting, and add a brief prohibition on open flames in county buildings. Aaron, a committee member who moved multiple redlines during the meeting, said the changes are intended to make the draft clearer and more consistent across elected offices.
