Summer, the business office manager, explained the requested new full‑time position would help process business licenses, manage enforcement and implement a recently purchased Granicus platform that compiles listings from many short‑term rental platforms. Pay for the proposed position was described as $20–$22 per hour; the court approved creation of the position by voice vote.
Staff said Granicus aggregates listings from dozens of platforms (presenters referenced roughly 70 sources) and continuously updates. Summer and other staff said an initial estimate provided during a demonstration suggested about 50 short‑term rentals currently registered with the county were in compliance while roughly 300 listings did not appear to be paying local transient‑room taxes; tourism staff agreed to pay half the software cost. Summer said the software will display listing frequency, revenue and platform detail to help the county identify properties for follow‑up enforcement and tax collection.
Court members asked procedural questions about enforcement and about how the software would work; staff said the system will identify listings and that enforcement officers can then investigate. Members approved the administrative position and directed staff to proceed with implementation and coordination with tourism and planning staff.
