Finance committee representatives recommended waiting, noting the purchase would consume the remaining equipment budget for the street department. "Buying both of them would take up the rest of the budget," a finance committee member said, adding the purchase would be an all‑cash transaction.
Staff reported maintenance logs looked acceptable and that Drake and Cameron had inspected and test‑drove the trucks. Council discussed options to surplus one truck later to recoup funds and whether street/alley funds could be used; staff said the trucks are intended to replace the street department semi used for hauling materials and demolition debris.
After discussion a motion to approve the purchase as described on the agenda passed on a voice vote with no recorded 'no' votes.
