The Board of Aldermen voted to rezone roughly 2.06 acres at 8274 Hacks Cross Road from M2 heavy industrial to C2 highway commercial.
Planning staff told the board the property contains a vacant building and is near other commercial uses. The planning commission recommended the downzoning after concluding that nearby commercial growth made the change appropriate.
Staff noted that C2 is a conventional zoning district with a range of permitted uses; if rezoned, the parcel could host a medical office, bank or other permitted commercial activity subject to applicable site plan and administrative review. Alderman Dickerson moved to approve the rezoning and Alderman Wallace seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
The final plat to subdivide and prepare the site for development was addressed later on the agenda.
