Beach Haven votes to seek up to $100,000 in state recreation grant funding

The Beach Haven Borough Council unanimously adopted Resolution 39 (2025) on Jan. 13 authorizing staff to apply to the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs for recreation grant funding, with a maximum request of $100,000.
Council members said recent grant awards helped local parks and that the new request would target projects across multiple parks, including shade structures, additional trees, upgraded lighting and possible tennis-court repairs. “The max we can ask for is $100,000 so I would like to apply for another Recreation Grant this year; we’ll ask for the max,” one council member said during the discussion.
A motion to authorize the application was made and seconded, and members voted in favor: Miss Anderson, Mrs. Ball Miller, Mr. Mcaffrey, Miss Snider and Mayor Lambert recorded aye votes. The resolution directs borough staff to proceed with the grant application and to provide project descriptions for Walsh, Taylor and Nelson parks as part of the submission.
The council did not specify a project-by-project funding split in the meeting; staff will prepare the application materials and next steps, subject to the Department of Community Affairs review.
